The international consulting and auditing firm Baker Tilly is consistently expanding its specialization in the tax sector to become a tax boutique: Matthias Groschupp (attorney-at-law/tax advisor), another VAT specialist, has now joined the firm as a partner. He comes from Rödl & Partner and previously worked for various Big Four firms for 15 years. Together with Groschupp, Tim König joins from his team as Director with a special focus on digitalization.

“I am convinced that Matthias, with his many years of experience, will further strengthen our excellent VAT unit around Marion Fetzer and Thorsten Went. With his expertise and high standards, we are strengthening our range of services and further expanding our important Stuttgart location,” says Oliver Hubertus, Managing Partner of Baker Tilly.

Matthias Groschupp was most recently Head of VAT Southwest at Rödl & Partner and has been advising companies of various sectors and sizes on VAT issues for over 20 years – from complex case-by-case analyses and international VAT structures to comprehensive expert opinions. He also supports tax determination, disclosure and tax audit projects as well as the VAT assessment of M&A transactions.

Tim König is also joining Baker Tilly as a Director. The experienced tax advisor has been working with Matthias Groschupp for many years and is a central component for the digitalization area. He combines in-depth expertise in VAT law with an exceptional understanding of IT-supported processes and their implementation in ERP systems.
“Baker Tilly stands for the highest quality in tax advice – I look forward to contributing my experience to the team and developing ideal solutions for our clients together with my new colleagues. Growing regulatory requirements and internationalization offer exciting challenges, especially in view of increasingly custom-fit technical solutions, in order to design tax processes efficiently and securely, in particular along the supply chain,” says Groschupp.

“Matthias’ expertise and experience enable us to provide our clients with even more comprehensive and strategic advice. His know-how is a real asset,” says Marion Fetzer, Head of Indirect Tax. Thorsten Went, Head of Digitalization Tax, adds: “With Tim, we are also gaining a great talent at the interface of tax and IT who fits perfectly into our young team.”
