Supported by Baker Tilly as legal advisor, HANSAINVEST Real Assets GmbH (HANSAINVEST), a Signal Iduna Group company, is investing EUR 50 million in mezzanine capital in a portfolio of 231 solar parks in Poland owned by energy producer SUN IPP GmbH & Co. KG (SUN IPP). The total output of the financed plants amounts to around 257 Megawatts-peak (MWp).
First investment in Polish renewable energy market
SUN IPP is part of the SUNfarming Group, based in Erkner near Berlin. With the investment, Poland is becoming the group’s second main market. HANSAINVEST is thus expanding its position in the field of renewable energies, investing in Poland for the first time. The company already manages a volume of EUR 1.9 billion in the field of renewable energies and infrastructure – including individually structured direct investments, fund investments and mezzanine financing.
Baker Tilly expands renewable energy advisory services
A Baker Tilly team led by partners Heinrich Thiele, Attorney-at-Law/Tax Advisor, and Jens Suhrbier, Attorney-at-Law, as well as manager Nico Schüller provided comprehensive legal advice for the financing of HANSAINVEST. “In the context of this deal, the Baker Tilly team was in particular responsible for the documentation of the registered bonds, including the German collateral as well as the currency hedge arrangement,” said Baker Tilly partner Heinrich Thiele. Once again, Baker Tilly demonstrates its expertise in the promising renewable energy sector as well as its capital market competence by advising on this project.
In addition to Baker Tilly, HANSAINVEST’s consultants in this transaction also included Dentons Poland and renerco plan consult. SUNfarming Group was advised by Bird & Bird Germany, Roedl & Partner Poland and Capcora. For more information on HANSAINVEST Real Assets GmbH, please click here.
