Baker Tilly starts the year 2025 with 23 new Directors

At the start of 2025, 19 colleagues from our own ranks were appointed as Directors. Furthermore, we welcome four new colleagues. The promoted and new joiners include lawyers, tax advisors and auditors as well as IT auditors and corporate finance specialists.

Baker Tilly has promoted 19 colleagues to Director – nine from the Audit & Advisory business line and ten from the Legal & Tax division. In addition, four new Directors have joined the firm. Two of them have joined the Audit & Advisory team and two have joined the Legal & Tax team.

The expansion of the group of directors is evidence of Baker Tilly’s successful growth course and the increasing demand for its services. The international consulting and auditing firm is thus living up to its own aspiration of continuously expanding its broad service portfolio through the targeted promotion of talent, supplemented by strategic new hires.

Audit & Advisory

Maria Brück is a German CPA at Baker Tilly in Hamburg. Her expertise lies in particular in the auditing of credit and financial services institutions as well as companies in the financial sector. She has been part of the Financial Services team since 2022 and has worked as an auditor for major national and international banks and financial institutions.

Matthias Holz is a German CPA and tax advisor at Baker Tilly in Düsseldorf and has more than 11 years of professional experience in auditing annual and consolidated financial statements in accordance with German commercial law, IFRS and US GAAP. He mainly advises international companies with locations in Germany and Europe in the retail, industrial and consumer goods, services and automotive supply industries. Furthermore, Matthias Holz has proven expertise in the auditing and implementation of control systems, in particular in accordance with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act).

German CPA and tax advisor Sylvia Könen has worked at Baker Tilly since 1991. She is an expert in the areas of annual audits and audit-related consulting, risk management systems, internal audit and compliance/governance structures. She also focuses on internal reporting, special audits and analyses in the area of financial due diligence, the preparation of special reports and the conversion of accounting systems. Sylvia Könen’s industry focus is on public utilities and public corporations.

Ka Hui Lam, Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), has been part of the IT & Controls Assurance team at the Düsseldorf office since 2017. His work focuses on IT audits as part of annual audits, which he coordinates nationally. He also supports clients in the IT advisory area, for example, with system conversions, audits in accordance with IDW PS 951 or IT audits.

Petra Mayer is a German CPA and tax advisor at Baker Tilly’s Nuremberg office. She has extensive experience in auditing and advising companies in the automotive, industrial, retail, printing and publishing sectors. Petra Mayer is co-author of the “Memento Rechtshandbuch Bilanzrecht für die Praxis” 1st to 3rd edition.

German CPA and tax advisor Frank Neumann has been with Baker Tilly since 1993. He is a proven expert in auditing and advising insurance companies and professional pension funds. He also specializes in statutory and voluntary audits of annual financial statements and consolidated financial statements as well as in the areas of due diligence and restructuring.

Attorney-at-law Michael Schwarz, CIA, CCSA, CRMA, CFE, CISA, has been working for the Düsseldorf Fraud Risk Compliance Competence Center since 2008. He specializes in auditing and advising medium-sized and large corporations, family businesses and listed groups in the areas of internal auditing, compliance and risk management. As an accredited auditor for internal audit systemsDIIR, he also performs quality assessments in companies.  

Auditor Marina Stumpp has been with the firm since 2021. She is part of the Baker Tilly team in Düsseldorf and focuses on clients from the biotech, medical technology, industrial and consumer goods and information technology sectors. Her key areas of expertise include the audit of annual and consolidated financial statements of listed companies as well as the audit and audit-related advice of national and international medium-sized companies. Marina Stumpp also works internally as a speaker.

Anja Verdieck is a sworn auditor and tax advisor at Baker Tilly's Schwerin and Hamburg offices. One of her key areas of audit expertise is in the public sector. A graduate in business mathematics, she also has extensive experience in advising clients from the shipping industry, the real estate sector, life insurance companies and occupational pension funds

Legal & Tax

Tax advisor Tatiana Casero joined the Corporate Tax team of Baker Tilly partner Sandra Steinmann in Frankfurt in January 2023. She primarily advises corporations in the areas of financial accounting and reporting. In addition, Tatiana Casero is also responsible for providing ongoing tax advice and support to clients. Her work focuses on clients in the areas of software services and construction services.

Attorney-at-law and tax advisor Dr. Christiane Krüger, LL.M. has been part of the Transaction Tax team at the Düsseldorf office since 2020. Her key areas of expertise include transaction tax law (in particular tax due diligence, structuring and SPA support) and advising on corporate restructurings. She also acts as underwriting counsel for various W&I insurance companies.

Christian Landenberger has been a tax advisor at Baker Tilly in Nuremberg since February 2021. His work focuses on group taxes with a focus on corporate tax law and structuring advice. In particular, he advises medium-sized manufacturing and service companies as well as private clients. Christian Landenberger also works internally as a speaker

David Leist has been working as a German CPA and tax advisor at Baker Tilly in Stuttgart in the Energy and Public Sector areas since 2019. His work focuses on tax advice and support for energy supply companies, municipalities and municipal companies as well as public sector companies, including in the areas of tax declarations, preparation of annual financial statements and business consulting

Since February 2021, Paul Margolin has been part of the Baker Tilly Corporate Finance team in Munich, designing investor processes – both on the sell-side and the buy-side. A particular focus of the Chartered Valuation Analyst (CVA) is the implementation of company sales in special situations.

Franziska Pina is an attorney-at-law and specialist lawyer for construction and architectural law at Baker Tilly’s Frankfurt am Main office. She is a proven expert in private construction law, litigation and mediation as well as in the real estate sector. Franziska Pina is a member of the Working Group for Construction and Real Estate Law (ARGE Baurecht) in the German Bar Association

Certified pension consultant Sabine Sailer has been working for Baker Tilly in Munich since 2013. Her practice focuses on social security law, both nationally and internationally, including in the area of global employee secondment and payroll accounting. She is a member of the national Payroll Tax/Social Security/Secondment Practice Group and the international Global Mobility Core Group

Tax advisor Mareike Schlöter moved from a Big 4 firm to Baker Tilly in 2018 and has been working in the Corporate Tax department at the Düsseldorf office since then. She advises national and international companies as well as corporate groups of various legal forms. Her key areas of expertise include comprehensive tax advice as well as corporate and real estate tax law.

Daniel Schwab is an attorney-at-law and specialist lawyer for construction and architectural law at Baker Tilly’s Frankfurt am Main office. As an expert in private construction law, litigation and mediation, he mainly advises clients from the construction and real estate sector. Daniel Schwab is a member of the Working Group for Construction and Real Estate Law (ARGE Baurecht) in the German Bar Association and the German-British Lawyers’ Association.

Tax advisor Bertram Wengert has been working at the Stuttgart Baker Tilly office since mid-2018. He specializes in providing tax advice to national and international companies, tax returns and the preparation of annual financial statements. In addition, his activities also include the preparation of consolidated financial statements for companies from a wide range of industries and of various sizes.

Audit & Advisory

Daniel Boms joined Baker Tilly’s Financial Services team in Hamburg on January 1. The Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) was previously responsible for IT auditing within the deposit insurance industry and now supports credit and financial institutions, capital management companies, FinTechs and neobanks as well as service providers in the field of IT advisory. This includes services in the areas of assurance, IT auditing and consulting.

Alexej Pankratz has been part of Baker Tilly’s Financial Services team in Frankfurt am Main since January 1. The business graduate is an experienced expert in the risk management of financial and non-financial risks and supports banks, asset managers and other financial service providers with auditing and advisory services in this specialist area.

Legal & Tax

Anita Härteis is a tax advisor at Baker Tilly in Nuremberg. She is an expert in group and corporate tax law, structuring advice and tax declarations. Her industry focus is on medium-sized production and service companies, private clients and foundations. She also advises tax-exempt organizations and corporations under public law (KdöR).

Tax advisor Patrick Schultheiß has been part of the Baker Tilly team in Munich since January 1. His key areas of expertise include advising and declarations in corporate tax law as well as cross-border employee taxation in payroll tax and income tax law. Patrick Schultheiß works for service companies and companies from the manufacturing industry in the healthcare sector. He also has experience in providing tax advice to energy suppliers in the municipal sector, companies in the plant construction and automotive industries.
