With Christian Jacob, Baker Tilly has gained a transfer pricing specialist for its Financial Services division. Jacob was most recently Managing Partner at MNT Family Offices GmbH, before that, Head of Financial Services Transfer Pricing at Deloitte (Switzerland and Germany) for a total of nine years and is now joining Baker Tilly’s Frankfurt am Main office as a new partner.
With his extensive knowledge of the financial sector, he is going to strengthen Baker Tilly’s Financial Services Tax team and make a significant contribution to its further development. His advisory focus is on transfer pricing, which is becoming increasingly important in tax advisory for banks and financial service providers as regulatory requirements become more complex.
New partner will contribute proven financial services expertise
“Christian Jacob is a renowned expert with an extensive network in the financial sector. He is a perfect addition to our tax consulting portfolio. He enjoys an excellent reputation as a transfer pricing expert and will be an outstanding addition to the existing team. With his commitment to the highest quality and excellence, he will fit seamlessly into our corporate culture,” says Oliver Hubertus, Managing Partner Tax at Baker Tilly.
Christian Jacob is going to assume an important role in the team around Carsten Hüning, Baker Tilly Global Leader Transfer Pricing. “I am delighted that Christian Jacob will enable us to address the high demands of the very challenging financial services environment in terms of transfer pricing even better in future. He brings in-depth specialist expertise and is perfectly familiar with the clients’ needs,” says Hüning.
Before joining MNT Group, Jacob spent a total of nine years as Head of Financial Services Transfer Pricing at Deloitte: three years with the Swiss consulting firm and six years in Germany. He started his career at Bayerische Hypotheken- und Wechsel-Bank AG, followed by positions at KPMG and PwC before joining Deloitte. Transfer pricing with a focus on financial services (banks, insurance/reinsurance companies, asset management, FinTechs, hedge funds and other capital market participants) has been at the center of Jacob’s work for more than two decades.
Over the past years, Baker Tilly has consistently expanded its advisory services in the area of transfer pricing. The targeted expansion of the Transfer Pricing tax practice group began when Carsten Hüning joined the Düsseldorf office as a partner in 2016. Hüning, who heads the department, works closely with the partners Georg Scholz in Munich and Asen Asenov in Düsseldorf.
The range of consulting services in the transfer pricing area covers all issues relating to the structuring of transfer pricing systems. Not only tax, but also legal and business aspects are taken into account. Supporting clients in complying with regulatory requirements (Compliance) is another core element of our consulting practice. In light of the constantly growing national and international requirements, this aspect will remain highly relevant in the future. With visible success: JUVE honored Baker Tilly with the “Law Firm of the Year for Transfer Pricing 2024” award.
